The Joan Rivers of today look very little like the Joan Rivers of 1965, when she got her very first plastic surgery, an eye lift. Multiple plastic surgeries have completely changed the face and body of the famously snarky Fashion Police host.
This isn’t surprising. Joan often pokes fun at the innumerable cosmetic surgeries she’s undergone, once joking she’d had 739. Looking back at pictures of Joan, you can see a noticeable difference in her appearance between 1965 and 1980.
As she’s aged, the nips and tucks have become more readily apparent. Even as late as her 60s, the work she had done wasn’t too far from the norm. Once she hit her 70s, the surgeries became obvious. Now that she’s in her 80s, it doesn’t seem like the plastic surgeries will slow down.
Joan has always been happy to admit she’s had plastic surgery. She stated in an interview with the Daily Mail that
“My motto is ‘better a new face coming out of an old car than an old face coming out of a new car.’ Spend your money on you.”
And in youth-obsessed Hollywood, who can blame her? Plastic surgery is practically de rigueur in Tinseltown. And with the rumor mill constantly churning out gossip about who had what tightened and tucked, Joan is smart to just let it all hang out.
Considering the vast array of surgeries she’s had done, lying certainly wouldn’t be easy to accomplish. The changes in her appearance have become borderline caricature. She’s even gone so far as to say in an interview with Anderson Cooper that “every weekend I go in and get something new. I get a 10th one free! It’s a little like coffee, you just keep going.”
When you look at the pictures, you can easily see the procedures she’s had done. At least 4 facelifts, breast implants, nose job (at least 1), botox (innumerable), a brow lift, and liposuction. She’s admitted to most, if not all of these procedures. And the prevalence and effectiveness of botox have probably kept her from at least one more facelift.
With this many Joan Rivers plastic surgery moments, one has to wonder if she’s gone for surgeries the rest of the world can’t see. But then, we’re talking about Joan Rivers. She’d be the first to tell the world about any and all surgeries she’s had.
Now that she’s 81, we have to wonder what the sharp-tongued star will get done next? We won’t have to wonder long, that’s for sure. According to Joan, “I’ve had so much plastic surgery, when I die, they will donate my body to Tupperware!”
